Andrea McKenna
After graduating with a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, NYC in 1992, Andrea spent the next eight years painting and exhibiting in the tri-state area.
In 1999, she started working as a Decorative Artist and a few years later, formed her own business Videre Decorative Arts.
“Becoming an interior Decorative Artist came out of the desire to live and work in an artistic environment while making a living. Fourteen years as a successful Decorative Artist lead me right back where I started. I returned to painting and fused the decorative with the fine, working on wood as well as canvas and paper. My work, often merging the figurative with the atmospheric, seeks to invoke a dreamlike quality. ”
In recent years, Andrea has explored abstracts but in a more structured format. Using layers of different materials to generate the urban, industrial appeal that she favors. This is a direction that inspires her to combine the two.
A native of Fort Lee, New Jersey, Andrea moved to Jersey City in 1999 where she currently resides.
