What do curators look for when selecting artists? How does a visual artist get their foot in the door when approaching galleries? How can an artist present work that stands out in a competitive market? Pro Arts Jersey City invited visual artists to gain valuable feedback on their portfolios with 20 minute one on one review sessions from 6 prominent gallerists and curators at its annual Portfolio Review on Saturday, May 3rd, at Jersey City’s City Hall in Downtown Jersey City. Each Reviewer selected one top portfolio from the portfolios they reviewed. Selected artists will exhibit their work in the upcoming Curator’s Choice Exhibit. The Top selections this year are:
Douglas Ferrari assistant director at the Arts Guild,formerly Director of the Shore Institute of Contemporary Art selected Candy LeSueur 
David Ambrose, jurist NJSCA,Maryland State & Pennsylvania State Art Councils, selected Mollie Thonneson
Margaret O’Reilly, Curator of Fine Art at the New Jersey State Museum in Trenton  selected Vincent Salvati
Ann Aptaker, Independent Curator and Former curator of Exhibitions at the Morris Museum selected Peter Delman
Judith Page, Curator, Writer and Arts Educator selected Lynn Saville 
Elise Mannella, artist, curator and activist, serves on the Trenton Museum Society’s Exhibits Committee selected Janet Tzakis 
In addition, the 6 reviewers added an honorable mention to portfolios by Kay Kenny, Susan Evans Grove
