RitaMarie Cimini is an Independent Fine Artist living and working in New Jersey whose work taps into the collective consciousness via common experiences. A daily practice of meditation of more than thirty years has defined her worldview and her approach to painting. Trained as a formalist, Cimini’s paintings are physical objects with forcefully asserted painted surfaces in which she plays with the materiality of oil paint and cold wax, thereby allowing the viewer a glimpse into her working process. Recent paintings depicting transcendence of light and fragility of form represent a visual metaphor for a state of being. Her radiant paintings depict the reality of spiritual life, embodying a belief in interconnectivity and mystery.

Cimini’s paintings have been featured in multiple group and solo exhibitions in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Washington, D.C. She was notably included in a group show at Belskie Museum in Closter, NJ, and multiple “Art Connections” exhibits at Montclair State University, NJ. Cimini’s approach to art-making and her commitment to building connections for audiences and artists define a multi-faceted career. While holding an active studio practice, she also serves as President of Studio Montclair, a New Jersey-based non-profit visual arts organization whose mission is to foster the creative and professional growth of regional artists and the arts. Additionally, Cimini practices meditation, facilitates mediation groups and writes about art and spirituality for such publications as the Huffington Post, Sivana Spirit, and her personal website, rmcimini.com. Cimini holds an MFA in painting and sculpture from Bennington College and her work is held in numerous private collections in the United States and abroad.
