Statement:
My painting is a translation of energy into matter via a mental and physical process. My approach to painting is one of engaging imagination and stream of consciousness, to translate what I experience there into paint gestures. I then work to develop and coordinate the visual effect of these gestures until the image is sufficiently complex and balanced.
I react to the environment of the painting as I develop it. The resulting image is frequently abstract, with hints of figure entering when it seems necessary.
The sources of energy that I tap into are elements in nature, interactions between people, music, and physical movement.
