Seen/Unseen
Alaine Becker’s work is a meditation on the corporeal being – its physicality, form and volume. Her graphite drawings from the “Seen/Unseen” series are abstractions of internalized structures within the human body. Derived from actual body parts, Becker’s drawing take license with the actual forms, repeating them and representing them from many angles. Presented in a large-scale format, they relate to human scale and through modeling, texture and almost ritualistic mark-making they hint at complex and ambiguous sculptural forms.
