Making art is my favorite means of self-expression. By starting each painting drawing random shapes in yellow ochre, I am able to access personal imagery that connects to my feelings and resonates with my personal experiences. This ‘automatic drawing’ initiates a silent conversation that takes place during its creation. This is the soul of my work. I then develop the painting through colors and forms that speak to me and telling me what to do next. I seek a synthesis of some inner vision — that is my challenge and my pleasure. When that synthesis is achieved, the conversation is over until a new conversation begins in another painting.
