The Studio Tour unites Jersey City's artists, art groups, galleries and more to create an outstanding weekend for all to celebrate our talented and vibrant artistic community.

The absolute necessity for all Tour-Goers is the Studio Tour Map and Guide, which lists all venues and artists in a concise and easy to read guide, which is available NOW in the Hudson Reporter. The Guide will also be FREE at the Kick Off, and at Tour Tents at Grove St. and JSQ PATH trains on Saturday and Sunday. The Tour is a self-guided walking tour so just grab the guide, put on comfy shoes, and follow the map to marked open studios and events (you will see a yellow number and balloon outside each venue).

There will be many open studios this weekend throughout Jersey City where tour-goers can get a closer look at the artist's creative process. There are also many major shows and events - so many that we cannot possibly list them all.  Some are: Raw Power at the Morgan Building in the PAD, Nykomorph at Curious Matter, at Art House Productions, at 150 Bay Street, the 4th Street Festival, and sooo many more. All can be found in the Map and Guide.

  Open Call for Curators:

Pro Arts is seeking curatorial proposals for our PACAS program. PACAS is a program of visual arts exhibitions taking place in vacant retail spaces in Jersey City . Each exhibition is on display as long as the space is available. Therefore, exhibits may last anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months.

Spaces are not guaranteed for every submission. Curators must be flexible and have a creative vision for the space they are given. This includes where, when and what type of space will be available. Curators for this program must be low on demands, have a DIY approach, and be willing to prepare spaces, paint, clean, gallery sit, and collect hanging fees from artists to help offset costs.

Curators must work fast – after receiving your proposal, we will call you once we have a space available that could work for your show. Typically, the show must be installed as soon as possible in order to maximize the use of the space. The wait time for a space depends on how many spaces we have at a given time, and if an available space meets your needs.

What to include in your submission:

  • Your art resume (indicating curatorial experience) and contact information.
  • A description of the show you would like to curate and why.
  • The range of work you plan to consider (please include visuals if possible).
  • What your specific needs are, such as:

1. Estimate of square footage.

2. Estimate amount of wall space for hanging art.

3. Any additional information about the space you are envisioning for your show. We realize that a complete vision for a show is difficult without a space readily available. Therefore, try to be flexible in your needs and in your vision for your exhibition.

Pro Arts provides general liability insurance for the space while it is occupied with a PACAS exhibition. Therefore, curators, property owners, landlords, and realtors are NOT liable for the space while it is occupied with a PACAS exhibition. This does not include artwork insurance.

Pro Arts will provide administrative work associated with the space. This includes finding a space that is safe and secure for visual arts use and general coordination throughout your exhibition.

Pro Arts will provide as many resources as possible for costs associated with PACAS exhibitions. We make every effort to make funding available for costs associated with shows, but this is not guaranteed.

Please send curatorial proposals to rebecca.proarts@gmail.com

We accept submissions for PACAS on a rolling basis.
