With his Sculptural Photography, New Jersey native Matt Colagiuri challenges his viewers to reconsider their preconceptions about photography. By taking the familiar, deconstructing it, and then re-presenting it in a manner that challenges the senses, he aims to overcome the conditioning that our media-saturated society imposes on our minds’ eye. He rarely tells the viewer what he wants them to see in his work, he just asks them to re-think how they look.
Matt’s work is represented in New York, London and Paris. He’s been exhibited in galleries and art fairs across three continents. He has a B.A. in Anthropology from Yale, and a B.F.A. in Media Arts and Animation from the Art Institute of Atlanta. After having lived in Manhattan, Atlanta and San Francisco, he’s happy to be back home in New Jersey.
