Kathryn Klanderman

I have been working primarily with images of ducks, snakes and other iconic images. I am interested in the dialogue of this recognizable imagery within the physical, changing, experiential nature of drawing. Much of my imagery has come about through the act of drawing itself, related to aspects of natural experience. The floating or flying birds and the coiled physical body of the snake are metaphors in part for physical and emotional experience in drawing, and also in pure experience. I often use iconographic themes in my work as a starting point.
