Gailene McGhee St.Amand, a mixed media artist is a native of New Orleans. Her B.A. in Fine Arts, concentration in painting from Southern University. She attended Delgado Community College studying Commercial Arts courses, and History Art courses at Xavier University.
Her mixed media works are collages, assemblages, dolls and textile wall hangings. She loves to recreate, reassemble and reinvent small pieces of paper and fabric, to add details in color, symbols and patterns. She paints in oils, watercolor, inks, acrylics and fabric paints.
She is inspired by artists: John T. Scott, Wassily Kandinsky and Gustav Klimt. Gailene lived in Jersey City NJ, for ten years, however she returned to New Orleans in 2011.
