This series of work is a study of light and the empty space between objects, meditations on a concrete absence. Concrete in the sense that they are, in fact, still life images of simple objects – furniture, plants, appliances – the objects, however, are just outside the picture frame. Only the space surrounding the objects is recorded as literally as possible. Through this literal rendering of emptiness, of the immaterial effects of an object on its environment, emerges a field of potentiality, a palpable suggestion of presence that allows the viewer to intuitively perceive objects through the logic of light.
