Daryl-Ann Saunders

My medium is photography and I work on several ongoing portfolios of work. The images displayed here are from my Beyond The Platform series. Starting at twilight and continuing into late night, I photograph in subway and train environments to explore the relationship between machinery and community at the point where above-ground platforms intersect the landscape.
Acting as photographic architect, I often re-assemble the imagery to create new symbolism and realities. New structures are created, sequential moments in time exist as one. Stillness evolves from circumstances of motion and activity. I explore these themes in different transit systems throughout the world.
Saunders started her photography career as a self-taught performance and documentary photographer, then studied at at The School of Visual Arts and The International Center of Photography in NYC. She exhibits regularly and her work has been published worldwide and is held in the corporate collections of Pfizer, Inc., General Electric as well as other corporate and private collections.
