Nature is the inspiration for the forms I use. Nature, however, is not merely imitated in the work, but acts as a departure point for a metaphysical experience. My work evolves around a dialogue between the drawn form and color. Line and color, the spontaneous gesture and the calculated mark, the organic and the geometric shapes are all elements that coalesce into a complex internal structure. Ultimately, my works achieve a sense of balance and harmony. I feel that as an artists I must endow my work with a spiritual quality that transcends stylistic trends.
