Anne Novado is an artist based in Jersey City, NJ and Bayonne, NJ. After obtaining her MFA in Painting in 2004, she has taught drawing and design courses at Syracuse University, Cazenovia College and Onondaga Community College, board member of the Syracuse based 501c3 arts organization “ThINC”, in addition to her studio practice.
Novado’s ongoing series of biomorphic drawings are influenced by observations of natural phenomena, behavior, and mutation. Of these drawings, the artist states,“These drawings occupy an odd and curious place between the familiar and the bizarre, where the viewer often tries to identify something in them that is recognizable, but as these are abstract forms, the familiar association stops short.”
Recent exhibition history includes: solo shows at: Fingerlakes Community College, NY; Exhibit A Gallery, Corning, NY; New England College Art Gallery, Henniker, NH; Houghton Art Gallery, Corning, NY; Fenton Art Gallery at Onondaga Community College, NY; and group exhibitions include: Drawing Rooms, Jersey city; Rochester Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester NY; Everson Museum of Art’s Biennial “The Object and Beyond”, Syracuse, NY; and Iceland’s Gallery Svartaloft “Light Night 2007” festival exhibition.
