Anita Gladstone

I primarily paint landscapes.  The land inspires me with its strength and wonder. The beauty and power of nature is awesome, intimidating, and even intimate, as you look deeper and closer.  I paint from photographs I’ve taken in my neighborhood or during our travels over the years. When I look at the photos, not only do I see a visual reminder and reference, but I also remember what it was like to be there at that moment, taking the photograph.  I strive to express something in the paintings that evokes the sense I had as I stood in that spot, and hopefully give the viewer a sense of that same, awesome experience.
