Pro Arts Jersey City is expanding its presence outside of Jersey City for the first time with Curators Choice 2017 Exhibition travelling to The Gallery Space (formerly known as Arts Guild New Jersey) located at 1670 Irving Street, Rahway, NJ. The Exhibition will be on view from November 3-30, 2017. Public Reception is on Saturday, November 11, 6-8 pm.

The exhibit features 7 artists selected by professional curators from New Jersey during a one-day portfolio review. On Saturday, September 16, 2017, at City Hall in Jersey City, Pro Arts Jersey City provided visual artists a chance to discuss their work with leading NJ/NY gallerists and curators.

The 8 curators are: Arthur Bruso, Curious Matter; Henone Girma, Art in Flux; Donna Gustafson, Zimmerli Museum; Emily Johnsen, William Paterson University; Jo-El Lopez, Independent Curator; Anne Novado, Novado Gallery; Fayemi Shakur, City Without Walls; Dexter Wimberly, Aljira.

The 7 artists are: Luis Alves, Pam Cooper, Trish Gianakis, Nupur Nishith, Gregg Rosen, Theda Sandiford and Janet Tsakis
The selected artists work in a range of styles, subjects and media that illustrate the professionalism and talent of the artists who brought their work to the Review Day. In choosing the day’s top portfolios, reviewers agreed that the selected artists explored distinguished artistic approaches to contemporary visual and cultural context.
